Meet Me in 5 (Questions): Matt Roy

Aug 18, 2022

Welcome to Autonomic’s Meet Me in 5 (Questions) series where we feature the passionate individuals who inspire our work. We sat down with Matt Roy, Senior Software Engineer on our Observability team, to discuss his take on the Transportation Mobility Cloud (TMC) and learn more about the exciting things he’s working on.

1. How would you describe the TMC to a 10 year old?

I would tell a 10 year old that we make it easier for cars to communicate with the internet and people. We help the car find the person they want to talk to and translate their message into a language that person speaks. We even keep the car up-to-date with any information it needs to know.

2. What do you enjoy most about working at Autonomic?

The thing I enjoy most about working at Autonomic is definitely the people. I have had the opportunity to meet people from different parts of the world across our various offices. I have a great time working alongside everyone I come into contact with at Autonomic. We also have a lot of incredible mentors who are willing to teach and support you throughout your career.

3. What’s the most exciting thing you’re working on lately?

I am very excited to be working on building APIs that will provide a way for customers to access information on observability and operational events through multiple methods, such as near real-time streaming, ad-hoc querying, and aggregate querying.

4. How do you think the TMC will impact the future?

The TMC is going to be a game changer for any automotive fleet management company. With appropriate permissions in place, we can provide these companies access to vehicle data they need instantly, which will make obtaining critical information about their fleets easier, faster, and more comprehensive.

5. How would you describe the culture at Autonomic?

When I think of the culture at Autonomic, I think of support and fun. Other engineers at the company have helped mentor me and grow my career. I also have never felt bad asking what could be considered a dumb question, or even just not understanding something immediately. In addition to the supportive learning environment, Autonomic focuses on having fun and team building, which is invaluable and makes the work week more enjoyable.
